How was the airplane invented?
For thousands of years, people watched birds and dreamed the same dream: what if we could fly? They tried strapping feathers to their arms. They built giant kites. They jumped off towers with homemade wings and crashed into the ground. Flying seemed impossible — until two brothers who ran a bicycle shop figured out the secret everyone else had missed.
Wilbur and Orville Wright didn't start by building an airplane. They started by watching buzzards. They noticed something: when a bird wants to turn left, it doesn't just flap harder on one side. It twists its wings — the left wing tilts up, the right wing tilts down, and the whole bird rolls smoothly into the turn. That twist, they realized, was the key to control.
