What are shapes, and how do we find them all around us?
Look around. Really look. The world is secretly built out of shapes — outlines you could trace with a fingertip. A shape is just the edge of something, the line that says "here I am, and here I stop." Once you start noticing them, you can't un-notice them. They're everywhere, like polite little ghosts.
The simplest shapes are the ones with straight sides. A square has four equal sides and four corners that all sit up perfectly straight, like a tile minding its manners. A rectangle is its slightly stretched cousin — same neat corners, just longer one way. Doors, windows, books, and screens are nearly all rectangles, standing around looking sensible.
