What is energy and what are its different forms?

Here's a strange truth: you cannot point at energy. You can't hold it in a jar or keep it in your pocket. And yet it's the busiest thing in the whole universe — it's what makes anything happen at all. Every push, glow, crackle, and rumble is energy quietly doing a job.
So what is energy, really? The simplest answer scientists give is this: energy is the ability to make something change. To move it, heat it, light it, or bend it. If something is happening, energy is paying for it — like an invisible currency the universe spends.
