Why are there exactly 360 degrees in a full circle?
A full circle has exactly 360 degrees. Not 100, not 1,000 — 360. It's such a specific number that it feels almost suspicious, like someone chose it on purpose. And here's the twist: someone did. The circle itself doesn't care. We invented the 360.
To find out who chose it, we have to travel back about 4,000 years to ancient Mesopotamia — the land between two rivers, where some of the first great astronomers lived. They spent their nights doing one thing obsessively: watching the sky and writing down where everything moved.
