A Wonderleaf question

What happened to the city of Pompeii?

What happened to the city of Pompeii?

a real page from the book

Pompeii was buried when Mount Vesuvius erupted in the year 79. Ash, pumice, and then scorching volcanic surges covered the Roman city so deeply that streets, homes, shops, and many people were sealed under the ground for centuries.

The strange gift of that disaster is detail. Archaeologists can still see cart grooves in stone roads, writing scratched by ordinary Romans, and ovens left mid-work. Pompeii helps children picture ancient life as real kitchens, corners, errands, and families.
