Wonderleaf — Terms of Service

Operator: Wonderleaf, LLC (a Delaware limited liability company)

By creating an account or using Wonderleaf, you agree to these Terms.
1. What Wonderleaf is
Wonderleaf is a software service that generates short illustrated
educational picture books in response to user-submitted questions. Books
are created by passing user questions through a multi-stage pipeline that
includes large language models (for prose) and a third-party image
generation model (Google's Gemini API / AI Studio image models).
Wonderleaf is provided "as a service." We do not promise that any
particular question will produce a particular book, that the same
question will produce the same book twice, or that any specific
generated content will be available in the future.
2. Eligibility, accounts, and where the service is offered
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and we ask you to
confirm that you meet this minimum age at sign-up. A parent or guardian may
allow a younger child to use the service only under the adult's account and
supervision.
Wonderleaf is a mixed-audience service: its content is family-friendly
and intended for a general audience of curious adults and families, so it
may appeal to children as well as adults. We do not knowingly collect
personal information directly from children under 13. Children under 13 may
not create their own accounts; any use by a younger child must be under a
parent's or guardian's own account and supervision, and that adult is
responsible for such use.
Wonderleaf is offered only to users in the United States. The service is
intended for U.S. residents. We do not target the service to, and do not
intend to make it available in, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or
other regions outside the United States. If you are located outside the
United States, please do not use Wonderleaf.
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials (Google
account, magic-link email, session cookies) secure.
2a. The nature of the content (read this before sharing with children)
Wonderleaf retells history, biography, and literature. Some of those
sources contain language, themes, or imagery that are authentic to
the source but may not be suitable for every audience. Specifically,
generated books may include:
- Period-correct strong language when present in the source. A
book about The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn may contain Huck's
famous line involving the word "hell"; a book about Lincoln may
quote a period-correct phrase that today reads as harsh. We
preserve such language when it is part of the source's moral or
historical weight. - Serious historical themes: war, slavery, prejudice, illness,
poverty, mortality, religious belief and conflict, moral
compromise. These are the substance of history; we do not avoid
them. - Difficult moral content in classic literature: death of family
members, ethical dilemmas, characters making compromised choices,
loss. - Generic categorical depictions of objects, people, and
creatures — never brand wordmarks, logos, or trademarked
characters in images, but the prose may name them factually.
Wonderleaf is for ages 13 and up by default. If you intend to
allow a younger child supervised access under your account, you do
so at your own discretion and remain solely responsible for the
content the child encounters. Wonderleaf uses moderation and
generation guidelines intended to keep books family-friendly, but
these are best-effort safeguards, not guarantees — generation is
probabilistic, and individual books may still surface content a
parent finds inappropriate. You are responsible for previewing books
before sharing them with children.
By creating an account or providing access to a minor under your
supervision, you acknowledge that you have read this section and
accept the content nature described above.
Child-safety and reporting. Wonderleaf refuses prompts that seek
sexual content involving minors before any text or image is generated.
Apparent illegal child-safety content may be preserved and reported to
the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law
enforcement as required by law; any such material is handled as
confidential, with access restricted, and is not used for any
commercial purpose.
3. The content you generate (the load-bearing clause)
When you submit a question, the AI pipeline produces text and images on
your request. You acknowledge:
a. You direct the generation. The specific question you submit is
the input that determines what the system attempts to produce. If
your question explicitly requests copyrighted characters, real
people's likenesses, branded products in identifying detail, or
other restricted content, the system may refuse, may produce a
genericized result, or may (in rare cases) produce content that
resembles third-party intellectual property.
b. Your books are private to you. Wonderleaf grants you a personal,
non-exclusive, non-transferable license to display and store the
books generated under your account, for personal and non-commercial
use. The books you generate are private to your account by
default — they are not published to, listed in, or searchable
within the public Wonderleaf library, and are not shown to other
users. The public Wonderleaf library
consists only of books Wonderleaf curates or generates itself; your
books are never added to it automatically.
c. AI outputs are not warranted to be original or non-infringing.
AI image-generation models are trained on broad corpora and may
produce outputs that resemble copyrighted material or registered
trademarks. Wonderleaf operates a multi-layer brand-IP detection and
auto-healing pipeline (text scrubber, vision QC, learned-rule
substitution, escalation log) intended to substantially reduce the
incidence of such outputs, but cannot guarantee any specific output
is free of third-party IP.
d. You will not intentionally produce or commercialize infringing
content. You agree not to: (i) submit prompts crafted to elicit
reproductions of named copyrighted characters or trademarked
products; (ii) commercially redistribute generated books at scale
(printing them on merchandise for sale, publishing on a paid
platform, etc.) without separately securing rights from any
recognizable third-party IP appearing in them; (iii) attempt to
reverse-engineer the model, extract training data, or use the
service to create derivative AI training datasets.
e. Indemnification by you for misuse. If you submit prompts
intentionally designed to produce infringing content (per (d)) and
a third-party rights-holder pursues a claim arising from your use,
you will indemnify Wonderleaf for legal fees and damages arising
from that specific use.
4. Subscriptions, billing, refunds
Wonderleaf offers a Free tier (one lifetime starter custom book) and two
auto-renewing paid subscriptions: Plus — $9.99/month and Family —
$19.99/month. By starting a paid subscription you agree to the following
automatic-renewal terms (Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 17600–17606):
- Your subscription continues and automatically renews each month until you
cancel it. Each renewal term is one month at the price above. - The recurring charge is $9.99/month (Plus) or $19.99/month (Family),
billed monthly to your payment method through Stripe until you cancel. We will
not change the recurring amount without giving you advance notice. - There is no minimum purchase obligation — you may cancel at any time.
- How to cancel: at any time in one click online via Settings → Manage
subscription (the Stripe customer portal). Cancellation takes effect at the
end of the current billing period; you keep paid access until then. - We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months.
- Before you are charged, the auto-renewal terms, the charge amount, and how to
cancel are disclosed at checkout in visual proximity to the purchase button,
and we send you a confirmation you can keep for your records.
These automatic-renewal protections apply to California consumers regardless of
the governing-law clause in Section 11.
Failed payments after retry attempts (per Stripe defaults) may result in loss of
paid-plan access. Books generated during the paid period remain in your library
indefinitely, subject to Section 6.
5. Acceptable use
You will not:
- Use the service to harass, defame, threaten, or harm another person
- Submit prompts depicting sexual content involving minors or any
illegal content
- Submit prompts targeting living non-public-figure individuals (e.g.,
generating books "about" your neighbor without their consent)
- Use automated tooling to bulk-generate books
- Attempt to evade the content moderation classifier or prompt-scrubber
- Use the service to develop a competing AI product
Violations may result in suspension and forfeiture of subscription
without refund.
6. Storage and removal
Generated books are stored in your account library indefinitely while
your account is active. They are private to your account (see
Section 3.b) — kept for your own use, and not published to the public
Wonderleaf library or shown to other users. We may, with
reasonable notice, delete books
that violate Section 5 or that we are required to remove following a
DMCA takedown or trademark notice from a rights-holder. If we receive
a takedown notice that names a specific book in your library, we will
notify you, remove the book, and (where applicable) return the
associated custom-book credit to your account balance.
If your account is inactive for 24 months, we may archive or delete
your library after written notice.
7. Account deletion
To request account deletion, email [email protected]. We may retain
records as required for tax, billing, legal, security, and abuse-prevention
purposes.
8. Disclaimers and warranty limitations
Wonderleaf is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express
or implied, including but not limited to: merchantability, fitness for
a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted
service.
Educational accuracy. Wonderleaf is an entertainment-leaning
educational tool. We do not warrant the factual accuracy of any
generated content. Do not rely on Wonderleaf books as authoritative
sources for medical, legal, financial, or safety decisions.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wonderleaf's total liability
for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the
greater of (a) the amount you paid Wonderleaf in the 12 months
preceding the claim, or (b) USD $50.
We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special,
exemplary, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of
profits, data, business, or goodwill.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms with at least 30 days' notice via email
to your account address. Continued use after the effective date
constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware,
without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Disputes will be resolved through binding individual arbitration under
the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except for
small-claims-court actions and intellectual-property injunction
actions. Class actions are waived to the maximum extent permitted by law.
