How do robots move?

Robots move because electricity drives motors, and those motors turn shafts inside the robot. Gears change that turning into stronger, slower motion, while servos stop at exact positions so an arm, wheel, claw, or knee can go where the computer tells it.

Walking is harder than rolling, because a legged robot has to keep checking whether it is leaning and adjust many joints at once. Some snake-like robots move by sending bends down their bodies, so the floor pushes back and slides them ahead.
