A Wonderleaf question

What is matter made of?

What is matter made of?

a real page from the book

Matter is made of atoms, and atoms are made from still smaller pieces. A nucleus sits at the center with protons and neutrons, while electrons move around it. Protons and neutrons contain quarks, so a cup, sock, or shoulder begins with very tiny parts.

The strange part is how much room there is inside an atom. The center is incredibly small compared with the space around it, yet invisible forces make these bits act like sturdy things you can stir, stack, wear, and hold.
