A Wonderleaf question

Why does Earth spin?

Why does Earth spin?

a real page from the book

Earth spins because it formed from a rotating cloud of gas, dust, and rock around the young Sun. As gravity gathered that material into our planet, Earth kept much of the turning motion it was born with.

A huge early collision also helped set Earth’s tilt and speed, and space offers very little to slow a planet down. The Moon does tug on Earth, though, so our days are lengthening by tiny amounts over time.
