A Wonderleaf question

What is Mont-Saint-Michel?

What is Mont-Saint-Michel?

a real page from the book

Mont-Saint-Michel is a rocky tidal island in Normandy, France, with a village and abbey rising up its slopes. It began as a holy site, grew into a monastery and fortress, and is still shaped by the sea that sometimes surrounds it.

The bay is the part children tend to remember. When the tide drops, sand stretches out around the island; when it returns, water can cover the crossing quickly. That changing edge made the mount feel protected, dramatic, and wonderfully hard to ignore.
