Where do Komodo dragons live?

Komodo dragons live in the wild only on a few islands in Indonesia, especially Komodo, Rinca, Flores, and nearby smaller islands. Their home is hot, dry, and rugged, with open grass, scrubby trees, beaches, hills, and sunny rocks where these huge lizards can warm their bodies.
A delightful map fact is how tiny their natural range is for such a famous animal. These dragons can hunt deer and pigs, climb when young, and even swim between islands, yet their whole wild world is just one small island group in the Pacific.
