Where do Komodo dragons live?

Komodo dragons live wild only on a few islands in Indonesia, including Komodo, Rinca, Flores, and nearby smaller islands. They need hot, dry places with open grass, brushy woods, sunny rocks, and enough large prey to hunt.
Their home is small enough that every wild dragon matters. These lizards can warm themselves on volcanic slopes, climb as youngsters, and even swim through seawater between islands, though the safest place to see one is with a guide in Komodo National Park.
