A Wonderleaf question

Who invented pizza?

Who invented pizza?

a real page from the book

No single person invented pizza. It grew from an old human habit: baking flat dough and adding whatever tasted good on top. The pizza we know took shape in Naples, where working people wanted warm, simple food they could buy and eat by hand.

Tomatoes were the late arrival. They came from the Americas, reached Europe in the 1500s, and only later became trusted food. Once tomato met flatbread in southern Italy, pizza began its long trip from street meal to dinner table around the world.
