How do meteorologists predict the weather?

a real page from the book

Meteorologists predict weather by measuring what the atmosphere is doing now, then using physics and computers to estimate what comes next. Weather stations, balloons, radar, and satellites collect temperature, wind, pressure, and moisture data. Forecast models use those measurements to calculate how air should move and change.

The atmosphere is very sensitive, so forecasters do not trust one computer run alone. They compare many model results, check live observations, and update the forecast as new data arrives. That is why tomorrow’s prediction is usually firmer than one for next week.
