Clouds change shape because they are not solid; they are loose crowds of tiny water drops riding moving air. Wind tugs different parts in different directions while drops appear and disappear as water changes between mist and vapor.
That means the cloud your child spots is being remade while they watch. A nose can fade, a belly can swell, and a thin edge can fray because millions of drops are shifting, forming, or vanishing.
